Since the age of 12 Yelena Krivosheyeva has worked as a reporter and a TV host of a local Russian cable network and later continued her path to become a professional journalist by attending Voronezh State University while working as a freelance reporter for a prominent newspaper Novaya Gazeta in the city of Voronezh.


In 2003 since a significant political change in the country that led to severe censoring the freedom of speech in Russia at the time, Yelena immigrated to the USA.

Yelena graduated Magna Cum Laude from Suffolk University in Boston receiving her BA in Communications/Advertising. She then spent a few years in marketing/advertising industry as well as a manager/wine director in hospitality industry until she returned to academia to pursue filmmaking. 


In 2014 she received a professional degree in Digital Media Production from Emerson College which was a  2 year program that focused on graphic and web design as well as visual effects. 

In 2018 she graduated Chapman University with MFA in Directing. 

Yelena has directed a total of eight short films and one TV pilot. Since graduation, Yelena has been working as a director’s assistant to the veteran director Martha Coolidge as well as freelancing as a 1st/2nd Assistant Director and Line Producer.

As a writer/director Yelena draws a lot of her inspiration from her rich cultural background as well as her complex journey as an immigrant. All of the films she has written and directed are about female characters told from a unique and diverse perspective.
